About Indiana Standards Laboratory

Indiana Standards Laboratory (ISL) is an ISO/IEC 17025-accredited calibration laboratory located on the south side of Indianapolis. Richard Chance started ISL in 1959 to build and calibrate precision measuring and test equipment. Richard has built test equipment for companies across Indiana testing bomb fuses, alternators, track timers, radio systems and lighting fixtures to name a few. As the demand for traceable calibration grew to meet ISO standards in manufacturing, ISL became focused on calibration. Calibration is now our primary business, but we are always open to building test equipment. ISL is a small company of 14 employees with diverse training through military, university, technical schools, and aviation work experience. ISL has a great employee retention rate with employees averaging 13 years of service. This low turnover has allowed ISL to maintain stable growth, provide consistent customer service, and being responsive to customer demands. Let our nearly 60 years of calibration experience, service, and ongoing support help you solve tomorrow’s challenges today.

What does the future hold for ISL?

Mark Cook has assumed ownership of ISL. Mark has worked at ISL for 25 years helping Richard build the company into the calibration lab it is today. The transition has been smooth since all of the key players, including Richard, are still involved. Mark spent seven years in the Army National Guard receiving training on aviation electronics and helicopter repair. Mark also received a BS in Electrical Engineering Technology from IUPUI.
